Photography Video Studio Review
Photography Video Studio – Emart 8.5 x 10 ft Backdrop Support System Review
As an entry level photographer and videographer, I picked up an entry level home video studio. Hello, Emart photography video studio. I was looking for lighting and backdrops to showcase some products for this review site. Video was also considered.
If you have no equipment, this set provides a decent set to get you going. There are four lights with stands and backdrop frame with three muslin backdrops (black, white, green).
A carry bag comes with the set for a person on the go.
Thanks to another reviewer, when opening the box do NOT cut through with an opener. You could slice the carry bag. I probably would have.
OK, the box is now safely open, and you are ready to check things out.
In the Box

Set-up is straight forward, probably under an hour.
Let’s take a closer look.
8.5’ X 10’ Backdrop Support System
Before purchasing this set, I read numerous reports of the backdrop system being adequate, but flimsy when fully extended. This is my take after playing with it a bit. Mine is going to stay in one room for the most part so that is OK. If you plan on taking yours on the road, use a soft touch.
Due to the size and configuration, this set is probably best used for a single subject (object, person). The width at 8.5’ isn’t quite large enough to get two people in chairs, like an interview style setting. It may be possible with a small couch with both people right next to one another.
6’ X 9’ Muslin Backdrops – Black, White, Green
They arrived folded with creases. We washed all of them and steamed them without issues. The quality is on the lower end. It will not totally block out light from behind.
Umbrella Lighting Kit X 2
Two units to hold the bulbs and go on top of the light stands. They adjust up and down.
Softbox Continuous Lighting Kit X 2
Thin material with so-so stitching. Hook and loop patches hold the front panel around the perimeter. The metal frame is lower quality.
Backdrop Spring Clamps X 6
Clamps, what can you say about clamps? They clamp. They work fine, smaller than I expected.
Backdrop Clip Holders X 4
Not bad, could have used a couple more. You can adjust them.
5500 CFL Daylight Bulbs X 4
Seem decent, no complaints
Lamp Holders X 2
Put these with the softboxes. They adjust up and down 180 degrees.
- 33” Translucent Umbrella X 2
These two umbrellas are transparent to diffuse the light and work like I thought they would. The supporting metal frame is not high quality. I doubt they would take much abuse.
7’ Light Stand X 4
Collapsible from 2.3’ to 7’. Not terrible. One nice feature is the generous length of the cords. I purchased a multi-plug 20’ extension cord, but don’t need it as often as I thought.
Same type of quality with so-so stitching and cheaper zipper.
Entry level bag.
OK, that was not the greatest review on quality, and this next statement may seem contradictory. I really like it. It does everything that I was hoping it would. The reason is that it stays in the house and we move it around inside without any issues. If I had to pack it up and move it daily, I doubt I would be as pleased. So, if your plans are like mine, this may not be a bad option to get going.
This could be a option for your first studio, depending on how you plan to use it.
- Complete starter kit
- Cords are above average
- Lower quality components
- Backdrops are thin
- Backdrop frame is flimsy
